Barangay Balibago — our home barangay
Our partner daycare center in Balibago anchors all three pillars. Baseline frozen 30 September 2026.
The idea
Most projects end on the day of the event. Ours is designed around what remains: a child measured twice, a mother's income compared six months on, a reading corner with parent-coaches, a handwashing station with a named caretaker, a community corps that owns the assets.
"If a project threatens one of these dates, the project goes — not the date."
Where we work
Our partner daycare center in Balibago anchors all three pillars. Baseline frozen 30 September 2026.
The programme is built for two communities. The second seat is open — see below.
Nominate a communityPillar 1
What we do. Every enrolled child measured in September, re-checked in December and March, measured again in May; deworming, vision, dental and hearing checks; a referral desk that follows every case; family-health classes; a stocked first-aid cabinet; ten handwashing stations with named caretakers.
What stays. The data, the cabinet, the stations, the referral pathway, and a community that knows how to use them.
Volunteer nurses, doctors, dentists and optometrists; in-kind screening supplies.
Pillar 2
What we do. Cohorts of 25–30 parents and vendors, selected by published criteria; training in a market-tested trade with a recognised certificate; a starter kit when milestones are met; a monthly Market Day; income tracked at graduation and six months later. First up: churros starter packs, each good for about a hundred servings.
What stays. Certified skills, a registered association, a monthly market, and income data that tells the truth.
Pillar 3
What we do. A daycare redesigned for early reading habits; a reading corner and a growing library; parent-coaches trained to read aloud; volunteer teachers from partner universities; the Sangguniang Kabataan helping care for the center.
What stays. Books on shelves, trained parent-coaches, and a daycare designed for learning.
Follow-through
Baseline frozen — every enrolled child measured; household interviews complete.
Cycle 1 re-check, at the Balibago Health Caravan.
Cycle 2 re-check, with the handwashing stations installed.
Endline, with the identical tools.
Public Impact Report — baseline to endline, referrals made and completed, income at graduation and six months on.
The lasting-impact test. On 1 July 2027, what asset, trained person, signed agreement, registered organisation or dataset will still exist because of this activity? If the answer is "nothing", we don't do it.
A daycare center; a barangay willing to sign a simple agreement with the club and co-own the results; parents and volunteers who will show up.
A full year: child-health baseline and endline, a livelihood cohort, a reading corner and books, handwashing stations, a health caravan, and a Rotary Community Corps to own it all.
Tell us about your community → we visit together → agreement → baseline measurement.
Inside the programme
City offices · hospitals · universities · national agencies · companies and sponsors · youth organisations · other Rotary clubs. Each brings what it already does well; we bring the follow-through.
